iBooks is an amazing way to download and read books and pdf documents. iBooks includes the iBookstore, where you can download the latest best-selling books or your favorite classics – day or night. Browse your library on a beautiful bookshelf, tap a book to open it, flip through pages with a swipe or a tap, and bookmark or to your favorite.

Click on the "STORE" button along the left to access additional books. (see below) You will be prompted to log into your iTunes account if you have not already done so.
  • Once in the store, you will notice the menu at the bottom of the screen where you can browse for books using the ibookstore.jpgfollowing buttons: Featured, NYTimes, Top Charts, Browse & Purchases. A "splash screen" appears with featured book such as "Oprah's Books," "Big Fall Releases," "Recent Releases," etc.

  • In the top menubar of the iBook Store you can sort by: Categories, Featured Books, Release Date or by running a Search (upper right)

eBook Options on the iPad: It is all about your preferences when it comes to ebook reader apps. If you are use to using the Amazon Kindle or the Barnes & Noble Nook "there is an app for that" in the app store. It is all about your preference in e-book apps.

kindle-whisper.jpgAmazon Kindle Whisper App: This app can be download for FREE from the app store on your iPad. Downloading this app opens another source for e-books--the Amazon Bookstore.

stanza.jpgStanza: Stanza is a FREE application for your iPad that works very much like iBook. Stanza allows the user to download from a vast selection of over 100,000 books and periodicals, and read them right on the iPad.

nook.jpgNook: Barnes & Noble also offers a FREE app for the iPad bringing the number of options that are available from the many players on hard cover books to the iPad. The NOOK for iPad app is available at the app store and allows users to access ebooks from the Barnes & Noble bookstore.

Syncing & Saving PDFs on Your Bookshelf:
  • To add PDFs to your iTunes library on your computer, simply drag and drop the PDF into your iTunes Book library.
  • To sync a PDF to iBooks on your device:
    1. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in the Devices list on the left in iTunes 9.2 or later.
    2. Click the Books tab in the resulting window.
    3. Ensure that the Sync Books checkbox is enabled.
    4. If iTunes is set to only sync selected books, be sure to enable the checkbox next to the PDF you want to sync.
    5. Click Sync.
